Praise be to God. One of the truths many reformers overlook is that empowerment in the land is not an end attained by force or by numbers. It is the fruit of sincere servitude to God.
God’s way has always been to grant firm establishment to His servants when they worship Him as they should and uphold His religion within themselves before trying to establish it in others.
The article cites a striking reflection by Shaykh Abu Ishaq al-Huwayni, who observed that God may open a door of empowerment to the ummah and then close it again so it may be raised, disciplined, and made to understand that true strength does not lie in slogans or excitement. Rather, it lies in realizing the meaning of servitude. When people become servants of God in their homes, their work, and their conduct, God grants them empowerment even without obvious means, and He prepares both the means and the people for it.
From that perspective, the path to reform begins from within before it appears without. It begins with purification of the self, not merely with the noise of public arenas. As the Shaykh said, “We will not be granted empowerment as our predecessors were until we carry concern as they carried it. Whoever carries no concern is a failure in worldly life before religion.”
It is therefore a call to self-review, truthful servitude, and awareness that governing the world is a grave trust that is given only to one whom God has raised through obedience and refined through trial until he becomes fit to bear the message. The article closes with the Qur’anic promise: “O you who believe, if you support God, He will support you and make your feet firm” [Muhammad: 7].
