Role of Youth in Building the Ummah
This sermon centers on the place of youth in the life of the Muslim Ummah. It argues that periods of renewal, support, and sacrifice have often been carried by younger believers whose hearts were quick to respond to truth and whose resolve was not yet weighed down by hesitation and attachment to worldly ease.
The article begins from the prophetic struggle for support in Makkah and the youthful response of the Ansar, presenting that moment as a model for every generation. Youth are described not merely as a social category, but as a strategic trust in the building of religion, communal strength, and future leadership.
It then turns to the qualities that make youthful energy fruitful: sincerity, continuity in worship, readiness for sacrifice, truthfulness in intention, and endurance in serving the cause of Allah without seeking reputation or worldly applause. The warning is clear: great visible work can be emptied by riya’, while seemingly small work can be raised by ikhlas.
Its overall message is both exhortative and pastoral. Preparing a generation that carries the flag of this religion is among the Ummah’s greatest obligations, and that preparation must combine spiritual formation, moral seriousness, and sustained action in service of Allah’s deen.
